Time marches on. Our childhood of yesterday now seems so simple, and BMW’s naming convention was once easy to understand. And just as age inexorably adds complexity to our lives, you now need a decoder ring to figure out which BMW you have. But not coincidentally, as life gets more complex, so too it gets richer. The same could be said for BMWs progress through the ages, and this 2015 BMW M4 is no exception. It may take you a few minutes to dial in the right settings for your personalized “M” drive buttons, but when you do, the rewards are as deep and satisfying as the torque band from this silky smooth twin turbo straight six is wide.
For sale here is a 2015 M4 with ~13,000 miles. Around 2015, BMW started calling its midsize coupe the “4 Series,” (and the 4 door remained the "3 Series"), and the M variant within each series got its own chassis code. The M4 was dubbed the F82. And while complicated the distinct designation is appropriate, because the M4 is far more than a 4 series with more horsepower and bigger tires. The chassis features a carbon fiber roof (exposed), a carbon fiber trunk (painted), and unique M touches like the welding of subframe components that are attached by rubber bushings in garden variety 4 series. It also features a carbon drive shaft. All of which is aimed at additional weight savings and stiffness. Like all M Cars, this one sits wider, lower, longer and definitely meaner than it's more plebian brand-mates.
For the F82, BMW returned to a classic straight six engine configuration. In particular, a 3.0 liter with twin turbo, called the S55B30. While the previous V8 required high revs to make power and produced a banshee’s wail, this motor makes a spine tingling roar, and pulls like a freight train, hauling you and whatever nerve you can muster to ludicrous speed from a docile 1,800 rpms. This engine is far more driveable in real life than its predecessor, while making more power, more torque, and saving weight (power was factory rated at 424 hp, and a whopping 406 lb-ft of torque, more than 30% more than the E90 M3).
This example has a fantastic suite of options, and service records from new including the first “M” service performed abroad during European Delivery. (A note about the early "M" service: as BMW has moved to longer oil drain intervals with it's regular cars, it still recommends an early drain of the factory oil in its M cars. This is an important service to look for when shopping for any late model M). It was last serviced at a Boston BMW dealer in August of 2019. Over the '19/'20 winter the owner had the same dealer perform a cosmetic refresh, including replacing curb damaged wheels, and paint-less dent removal from dings inflicted by a careless neighbor in a tight urban parking arrangement. (The pictures here were taken prior to this cosmetic work. The owner can provide a full and detailed description of any exterior cosmetic flaws remaining on inquiry). Full service records will supplied to the new owner.

Wheels are BMW Style 513M, wrapped in staggered Michelin Pilot Super Sport F: 255/40 R18 and R: 275/40 R18 (ZR rated). There is plenty of tread life left in all four tires. The car needs nothing mechanically. The interior is in pristine condition. Neither the bolsters nor the steering wheel show any wear. The exterior shows wear consistent with its age, and underwent paint-less dent removal and replacement of curb damaged wheels over the winter (after the pictures shown).
