The base Ford Fiesta was one of the cheapest, most sparsely optioned, and lightest cars offered for sale in the U.S. from 2014 through 2019. Ford unquestionably slotted this car in the "total econo-box" market segment. However, for true driving enthusiasts the last of those attributes was like a dog whistle, and Ford Performance heard the call. You simply cannot substitute lightness when your goal is driving enjoyment, and at 2,600 lbs. the Fiesta started with a leg up on almost every other car on the market. The folks at Ford Performance (formerly SVT) have made some serious performers of late: The Raptor, the Focus ST, and the Focus RS are all brilliant offerings, and the Fiesta ST does not let the side down. But whereas the Raptor and RS wow with big power, big tech, and all the goodies, the Fiesta ST is an exercise in restraint. The ~200 hp turbo is plenty, the six speed is precise but not finicky, and the rear torsion beam looks archaic on paper but drives like a dream on the road. This car would be a total dog in a game of Top Trumps, but it's an Ace on the road, and that's where it really counts.
The seller of the example listed here is co-owner of Revolving Garage, and you can read all about his corona-impulse buy here. After a few delightful months the realities of time and space have caught up, and it's time to move the car along.
This 2018 model has 18,660 miles and counting, and an "in service date" (the date when the warranty clock starts ticking) of December of 2018. That means there is ample time and mileage left on the bumper to bumper 3 yr/36k mile warranty, and even more on the 5yr/60k mile drivetrain warranty. It is a two owner car, and a full service history will pass to the next owner including regular oil changes. The car conveys with a clean Carfax and clean Montana title.
The car was purchased by seller in May of 2020 from Archie Cochrane Ford in Billings, MT. It was sold new at Lithia Ford in Missoula, MT. Seller took a careful inventory of the car at purchase and found no modifications that had been made by the prior owner. The seller has added Rally Armor mud flaps and some very light O.Z. Superturismo LM 15 spoke wheels in 17 inch diameter with 45 mm offset (they sit 2mm more "flush" than the stock wheels). The O.Z.'s are about 5 lbs lighter per wheel. The original black painted wheels will convey with car, and show some minor curb rash on 2 of 4 wheels. Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ in OE sizing (205/40 R17) with approximately 8/32nds tread depth all around.
There are no mechanical modifications. The interior shows no signs of wear or damage and presents in near new condition. All functions and systems operate properly. The exterior presents in very good condition with two prominent rock chips on the hood (see pictures) as the only damage discernible to the seller. The front windows have tinted (exact product unknown) to match the rears, likely at a law enforcement friendly 35%.
The oringal MSRP was $23,285 after an options list including:
- While Platinum Metallic Tri-Coat paint;
- red painted brake calipers;
- power moonroof; engine block heater; and
- black painted wheels.
It is equipped with the base seats (and not the optional Recaros). This is a subject of some debate among enthusiasts. While the Recaro option provided significant bolstering and sportier look, many find them to be ill fitting an uncomfortable on long drives.
